Current Oxfam International vacancies are advertised on the website on our Jobs page.
When available, we also try to include a selection of vacancies from Oxfam affiliates, with links to their websites, where all their available positions are advertised.
Unfortunately, due to the number of inquiries we receive, we can only respond to résumés and CVs that are submitted in reference to specific job postings.
2. How can I volunteer for Oxfam International?
Volunteers play a key role in helping Oxfam achieve its mission to reduce poverty and injustice around the world, from office work to helping in shops or stewarding at events and concerts. While Oxfam does not place volunteers overseas, the Oxfam affiliates around the world rely on volunteers in a wide variety of capacities. Please review the website of your nearest Oxfam affiliate, for further information on volunteering.
As the Oxfam International (OI) Secretariat is a small office based in the UK, when we need a volunteer, we tend to work through Oxfam GB, which has an extensive volunteer recruitment system. Please note that while we appreciate the interest shown by those wishing to do voluntary work with OI, we do not have the resources to keep volunteer applications on file.
3. How can I work as an intern with Oxfam International?
You can find the latest opportunities on our Internships page.
The Oxfam International Secretariat Internship Program, based at its headquarters in Oxford, offers full-time, six-month placements. The purpose of the program is to provide interns with a solid understanding of the activities of the Oxfam confederation, while the Secretariat benefits from the valuable support interns bring to the office.
Though we cannot guarantee employment beyond the internship, we are committed to the development of our interns in terms of the acquisition of skills and awareness of the range of activities within the coordination office of an international NGO confederation.
4. Where can I find research information on Oxfam International for my studies?
Oxfam produces a wealth of information, covering various topics. For an overview of the range of Oxfam’s activities, see our latest Annual Report. A comprehensive list of research and policy papers can be found in the Policy & analysis section of our website.
Due to our limited resources, the Oxfam International Secretariat is unable to advise research students on an individual basis. However, there is a great deal of useful information on affiliates’ websites, particularly in the policy and resources areas. The Oxfam affiliate organizations may also be able to respond directly. Contact details and website links for the different Oxfams can be found in the Contact us section of the OI website.
In addition, through its Oxfam Publishing division, Oxfam GB publishes and distributes a range of publications range of books, journals, reports, training resources, videos, and policy papers.

5. Where can I find detailed information on Oxfam partners and projects?
In all our actions Oxfam’s goal is to enable people to exercise their rights and manage their own lives. From long-term program work and short-term emergency relief to immediate campaign action, Oxfam believes in empowering people. Oxfam strives to work with local partners and takes a rights-based approach to our development work.
You will find a list of which Oxfam affiliates operate in which countries in the Development section of the OI website. The contact details for these affiliates may be found in the Contact us section of the website.
An organization as large as Oxfam International – 13 affiliates working together with over 3,000 partner organizations in more than 100 countries – has a huge diversity of programs and partners. For more detailed partner and project information, please visit the websites of the Oxfam affiliates.
6. How can I participate in Oxfam International’s campaigning events?
Oxfam campaigns for changes that will make the world safer and more just for its poorest and most vulnerable people. Working with a global team of campaigners and allied organizations and partners, we are currently campaigning in three main areas: trade and economic justice; health and education; and arms control. Please follow the links below to find out how you can get involved.
Make Trade Fair: Oxfam believes that the rules of international trade are rigged against the poor. The Make Trade Fair campaign calls on governments, institutions, and multinational companies to change the rules so that trade can become part of the solution to poverty, not part of the problem.
Health and Education for All: Teachers and health workers deliver essential services which are fundamental for fighting poverty and saving lives on a daily basis. Yet in developing countries they are paid starvation wages, work in appalling conditions and there aren’t enough of them. Oxfam calls on world leaders to deliver the money they promised at Gleneagles in 2005, to reach the UN Millennium Goals. And we will be holding poor governments to account – to allocate the resources needed to deliver good quality public healthcare and education services, and to tackle corruption.
Control Arms: By 2020, the number of deaths and injuries from war and violence will overtake the number of deaths caused by killer diseases such as malaria and measles. A joint campaign with Amnesty International, the International Action Network on Small Arms, and Oxfam, the Control Arms campaign aims to establish an international Arms Trade Treaty, which will ultimately prevent weapons ending up in the hands of human rights abusers, and fuelling conflict and poverty.
7. How can I get a loan or grant to cover my studies?
The Oxfam International Secretariat and our affiliate organizations share a policy not to provide loans or grants to individuals, preferring to use our limited resources to support groups of people in the countries where we work to set up development, humanitarian assistance and advocacy projects that will benefit a whole community, region or nation.
However, to find answers to your general financial aid questions, we recommend the following helpful websites:
8. Where can I find financial information on Oxfam International?
A summary of Oxfam International’s combined expenditure by region can be found in the most recent Annual Report, which can be found in the About us section of this site.
All of the Oxfam affiliates have published annual reports on their websites, which include details of expenditure. If you are not able to access the websites, they may be able to post such information to you. If you require more detailed figures about a particular Oxfam affiliate's expenditure, please contact them directly through the Contact us section of this website.
9. How can I seek funding from Oxfam International?
The Oxfam International Secretariat is not a funding body and has no direct involvement with program decisions such as developing partnerships or funding. Such decisions are made by our Oxfam affiliate organizations, within a coordinated framework in line with the Oxfam International global strategy.
Would-be partners should therefore approach Oxfam affiliates directly. Our member organizations can then respond according to their programming priorities and needs. You will find a list of which Oxfams operate in which countries in the Programs and campaigns section of the OI website. Additionally, contact details for all Oxfam affiliates may be found in the Contact us section of the website.
10. Where can I find information on how to set up an Oxfam or become an affiliate organization?
The Oxfam International Board has determined that our growth strategy as a confederation should be strategic and phased. This involves a manageable rate of intake of new members, with priority given to those areas that would strengthen our ability to achieve our strategic aims. When looking to develop an affiliation in a new country, we work with well-established national NGOs which can demonstrate shared values and experience in a range of activities and approaches, in keeping with existing Oxfam International members.
If you would like to get involved on a personal basis, check out the Get involved section of our site, or contact your nearest Oxfam to see what you can do locally.
