Key Responsibilities


Reporting to the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Coordinator the person selected will be tasked to provide emergency interventions in water and sanitation, and field support to teams during different program phases including: emergencies (first phase as well as mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery) as well as provide support for resiliency based programs

The person's key functions will be:

Emergency response (primary responsibility)
Analyse, identify and answer to the needs in water & sanitation supplies, in order to give an efficient and speedy response
To evaluate the risk situations concerning public health in the affected area and rapidly and efficiently answer to emergencies.
Select, design and carry out, in an emergency situation, the follow up of the building and rehabilitation of water supply systems and the installation of sanitation
To plan and control the budgeted expenses for the response.
To select and train the Technical team
To lead the Watsan and carry out the follow up of the selected activities and initiatives in close coordination with Hygiene Promotion Teams
Identify and evaluate the existing resources and the local partners', the humanitarian agencies and the governmental authorities' capacity
To coordinate and collaborate with other departments for the project, carrying out administration tasks, contracts and management of personnel as well as follow up of the budget and purchase of logistic material.
To represent Oxfam Intermón before the humanitarian agencies, the governmental authorities and the media on the field.

Team & Resiliency program support
Provide team and local partner technical training & capacity building in Water & Sanitation
Conduct evaluations of projects completed/ongoing
Conduct gap filling of WASH Managers (short term)
Conduct field assessments to identify intervention options

Headquarters support (20-25% of the time)
Work on training guides and documents for field and headquarter use
Provide briefings for field staff
Provide training for university programs in Water & Sanitation
Coordinate with other WaSH HQ members to support ongoing projects

Experience and Skills


University degree or equivalent engineering qualification; a specific qualification in Water and Sanitation (Watsan) or Environmental will be very much valued.
A minimum experience of 3 years in water and sanitation humanitarian programmes. An experience in emergency programmes is indispensable
Knowledge and experience regarding water engineering (water collection and supply systems as well as analysis and treatment) and sanitation systems for emergencies in rural and urban areas in countries of the South.
Oxfam Experience (any affiliate) will be valued.
Languages: English (fluent), French (fluent), and good Spanish level will be valued.
Availability for travelling with a short warning period, and stays on field (between 4 weeks and 3 months maximum). It is estimated that 80% of the time will be spent in the field.

Sie unterstützen den Fachbereich Marketing und Kommunikation bei der Erstellung von Informationsmaterialien für die Oxfam Shops, bei der Pflege und dem Relaunch der Webseite, in der Social Media-Kommunikation sowie bei der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit.

Aufgaben im Einzelnen (u.a.):

  • Bearbeitung von grafischen Daten
  • Gestaltungsaufgaben (on- und offline)
  • Mitarbeit am CD-Manual
  • Pflege des Bildarchivs und Aufbereitung von Bildmaterial
  • Erstellung von Content für Facebook sowie die Webseite
  • Recherchen
  • Konzeptionelle und organisatorische Aufgaben
Ihr Profil: 
  • Sie studieren Grafik- oder Kommunikationsdesign und sind während der gesamten Vertragslaufzeit an einer deutschen Hochschule immatrikuliert.
  • Sie haben bereits Erfahrung im Umgang mit DTP-Programmen (vor allem Indesign) sowie Photoshop, grafischer Gestaltung, Online- und Social Media-Kommunikation und beherrschen auch die MS-Office-Anwendungen sicher.
  • Sie arbeiten selbstständig, organisiert und zuverlässig.
  • Ihre Kenntnisse der deutschen Sprache sind auf muttersprachlichem Niveau und Sie besitzen eine sehr gute Ausdrucksfähigkeit.
  • Sie haben Spaß am Umgang mit Menschen, sind teamorientiert, aufgeschlossen und engagiert.
