Barcelona is the last official round of negotiations before a deal is done in Copenhagen at the end of the year. Millions of poor people are already struggling to cope with the effects of climate change and cannot afford delay.
Big headed leaders from the US and Europe here snip up climate finance checks outside the UN climate talks in Barcelona (Monday 2 November). The checks represent the world’s richest nations owe in climate finance to poor nations.
Rich countries created the climate crisis but they have failed to commit their fair share of the new money that is needed to help poor countries adapt to a changing climate and cut emissions. An international climate deal is unlikely to be agreed at the end of the year unless rich countries put significantly more new money on the table.
We're pushing world leaders to sign a global climate deal in Copenhagen that is ambitious, fair and binding.
