Write your name, for those who can't.

Week of Action 2009 – Global Campaign for Education

One in every four women cannot read this. A child born to a literate mother is 50% more likely to survive past the age of 5.

Education for All was promised by nearly every government by 2015, but today there are still 774 million illiterate adults and 75 million children unable to go to school.

Oxfam is supporting the Global Campaign for Education, which brings together groups in over 120 countries, to put literacy at the forefront of the global agenda and ensure that the international community takes the steps to ensure Education for All. This year our Global Action Week (20-26th of April) will see millions of individuals ‘Write their name, for those who can’t’ during The Big Read. More than 10 million people are expected to take part in The Big Read, so make sure you are one of them!
