On 21 April, the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Ya’an, Sichuan has left 186 people dead, 21 missing and 11,393 injured, 968 of them seriously. Oxfam has begun distributing emergency relief supplies.

International agency Oxfam is preparing to send blankets and water proof sheeting as part of a $260,000 aid package to the earthquake hit area of Yushu County of south-eastern Qinghai Province in northwest China.

We're working alongside a local partner, the Jingyuan County Association for Science and Technology (JCAST) on a series of anti-poverty programs in Gansu, including emergency support to endure the drought.
