Oxfam today launches a major new report highlighting the growing pace of land deals brokered around the world, often to the peril of poor communities who lose their homes and livelihoods – sometimes violently – with no prior consultation, compensation or means of appeal.
A coalition of 38 aid agencies today (6 September 2011) called on donors not to squander the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the people of South Sudan, the world’s newest nation. The call came as new violence in Jonglei state increased emergency needs.
On-going conflicts continue to affect thousands of people in both Sudan and South Sudan. We are providing support to vulnerable refugees who continue to arrive from Sudan to South Sudan. In addition to emergency relief, we're providing long-term development aid across the south.
