Afghanistan – People First

“I call on the international community, to put the interests of Afghan children above your own interest, don’t forget us—the future generation of Afghanistan.”
Taiba, 13 year old girl from Western Afghanistan

Four years and 17 billion dollars have been spent since the Afghanistan Compact was signed yet Afghanistan is still one of the poorest countries.

While international support is appreciated, it has not been doing a good enough job helping Afghans improve their lives and meet their basic needs. It’s time to think about Afghans' needs first and less about the military surge and exit strategies. Failing to achieve real development and decent government will prolong the suffering and prolong the conflict.

Join the fight against poverty in Afghanistan

We call on the heads of states to implement a new plan based on Afghans’ needs and ownership, not on short term political and military objectives. It’s time to renew and increase our commitment  in Afghanistan by focusing on poverty reduction.
