Food distribution to displaced people, Jalozai camp, KPk province, Pakistan - photos gallery

A recent influx of 63,000 displaced families – bringing the total to almost half a million people – into the Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has sparked grave concerns among international and national NGOs in Pakistan. We are calling for financial support from the government and donor agencies to ensure the urgent needs of those displaced from their homes are met.

We are also trying to bring focus to the terrible conditions the internally displaced people are living in with little food or water, limited sanitation facilities or healthcare supplies, and no opportunities to earn an income in the displaced areas.

Families hosting the IDPs are also a matter of concern as their resources are already stretched and require assistance too.

Since January 2012, security operations against non-state armed groups in Khyber Agency have prompted this mass displacement.

Jalozai camp is Nowshera district, some 25 Km east of Peshawar the provincial metropolis of KPk province. The camp was opened during the Afghan war and has seen refugees from Afghanistan. This is a vast stretch of land in the lap of mountains.
