Guatemala is one of the richest and most diverse countries in Central America, but with levels of inequality so high that the majority of women from the indigenous population are excluded.
Over half the population of indigenous girls and boys suffer from chronic undernourishment. This situation is made worse by the recurring impact of disasters and droughts on the most vulnerable communities.
The indigenous population, especially women, are excluded from having access to production, justice, political participation and land. They have no voice and their rights are not protected.
