Small Island States Up The Ante On A Climate Deal

The small island states – the country’s most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change – outlined their proposal for a climate deal in Copenhagen today.

 Antonio Hill, Oxfam International’s Senior Climate Advisor said:

 “The world’s most vulnerable countries, whose very survival is at stake in Copenhagen, are not prepared to go down without a fight. The small island states have clearly stated what they need out of a climate deal to ensure their survival. Their vision is the best proposal on the table and the only one of the many published this week to include the key ingredients of a fair, ambitious and binding deal.

 “The views of those who are most vulnerable to climate change have been sidelined for too long – they must be put at the top of the Copenhagen agenda from now on.”
