Emergency Manager Ethiopia

Responsibilities

  • Design and formulate, along with the country management, the development of the strategy and planning of the preparation, mitigation and response plan of Intermon Oxfam itself and as part of Oxfam International.
  • Design, implement and maintain the efficient planning, management, assessment and  formulation of the program.  
  • Guarantee the definition and implementation of an efficient system of monitoring and evaluation for the different humanitarian programs directly executed or with partners.
  • Define and coordinate a capacity building plan for IO staff and partners, in coherence with the general IO program of strengthening humanitarian capacity of the country team of IO.
  • Coordinate a humanitarian response with support of Intermon Oxfam Humanitarian Department.
  • Provide detailed and updated analysis of the humanitarian context in Ethiopia and changes in the situation through gathering of information and coordination with other humanitarian stakeholders.
  • Represent  the organization in different forums, local and other external actors. Participate in the work together with other Oxfams.
  • Manage personnel, financial and logistical resources.
  • Control and guarantee compliance with co-funders' requirements.
  • Assure and control the quality of narrative and financial reports.
  • Take responsibility for the correct understanding of the context of the intervention, participate in assuring the pertinence of the actions, the identification of the emerging needs and control of the security risks taken by the IO team.

Skills and Competencies

  • University degree, preferably in topics related to humanitarian program work.
  • At least 2 years in humanitarian missions in a general co-ordination in program management or similar post.
  • Experience and knowledge of formulation, following-up and evaluation of Humanitarian programs with vulnerable communities.
  • Experience in team management or coordination and capacity development.
  • Ability to act as a part of a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary team.
  • Proven ability to run proposals with a results orientated approach and decision making.
  • Planning, management and organization skills.
  • Ability to represent the organization and negotiate in its name.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English. Written and spoken Spanish would be advantageous.
  • Computer skills (MS Office, Internet, E-mail).
  • Driving licence, availability to travel and readiness to work in isolated and insecure environments.

Contract of employment: 1 year (renewable).
