Responsibilities:
- To define and propose response strategies and an action plan for each humanitarian crisis within the defined geographical area.
- To lead, manage and coordinate the operational aspect of the humanitarian response in the region.
- To prepare project and program narrative proposals and the decisions of the most appropriate co-financer according to IO's policies and strategies.
- To select, manage and develop team memebrs in order to have an engaged and motivated team, adequate to achieve the present and future goals. To coordinate the field personnel in the region.
- To control and carry out the follow up of the execution and the budget attributed to the humanitarian projects and programs developed in the region.
- To design and propose a response strategy for Oxfam International in the countries in which it is leader.
- To guarantee and implement Security Guides and ensure the security of the teams on the field.
- To take part and represent Intermón Oxfam in relevant Humanitarian Aid forums nationally and internationally.
- To act as a media spokeperson on Intermon Oxfam's actions.
- To guarantee the coordination of all the Oxfams with a responsibility in humanitarian crises in his/her geographical area.
Skills and Competencies
- University degree - a complementary training in Humanitarian Aid will be an advantage.
- 3 years minimum experience in a similar job of coordination in the field and/or at headquarters, in the management of humanitarian programs and team coordination. Experience in the field as Emergency Coordinator or Mission's manager.
- Knowledge and/or work experience in the region of all relevant areas of work will be an advantage.
- Experience in people management and development.
- Context analysis experience and capacity and strategic vision of the area.
- Result orientated and ability to work under pressure.
- Team work and collaboration.
- Ability to interact and communicate well, as well as good organization and planning.
- Flexibility and adaptatibility.
- Languages: fluent English, French and/or Spanish and/or Portuguese.
- Flexibility and availability to travel to the field.
- Commitment to international cooperation, development and the fight against poverty
