Oxfam welcomed commitments by France, Germany and the UK to make it mandatory for oil, gas and mining companies to publish data regarding their payments in resource-rich countries.
A review and recommendations by Dr. Cobus de Swardt, after an Oxfam staff member was passively involved in an incident at the UNFCCC Intersessional meeting in Bonn, June 2010. Oxfam’s management response is also included.
2010 saw Europe missing their poverty targets and today Heads of State compounded this by failing to put new commitments on the table to achieve their 2015 aid targets and keep their promises to the world’s poorest people.
The deadline for the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative arrives, but only two out of 22 countries have completed their validation.
