An 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit central Chile on 27 February. Oxfam is planning a three-month response focusing on hygiene distribution and promotion, as well as advising government institutions on water and sanitation.

Oxfam's team of humanitarian workers arrived in Santiago during the early hours of Tuesday morning spearheading the aid agency’s response to Saturday’s devastating earthquake. Oxfam is also looking into how to send basic emergency supplies from its Bolivia stock to Chile.
