A million refugees urgently need shelter, food and water
World Bank announces $1.88 billion for the Horn of Africa
Published: 24 September 2011
Oxfam’s Caroline Pearce said:
"Oxfam is very pleased to see this new commitment to help deal with the desperate food crisis in the horn of Africa - and particularly the fact that much of this assistance is badly needed long-term investment to help prevent future crises."
Note: Oxfam's own humanitarian efforts in the horn and east of Africa aim to reach 3.5 million people suffering from severe hunger.
