Global food crisis
Fundamental changes needed to tackle global hunger and food price crisis
Aid is urgently needed to address the immediate threat to poor people posed by higher food prices but money is not enough. World leaders must take this opportunity to address structural problems such as under-investment in agriculture and unfair trade rules. Other factors making the problem worse include climate change, rising energy costs, and increased demand for biofuels. This phenomenon particularly affects poor people in developing countries, many of whom already spend 50 to 80 percent of their income on food.
Health and Education For All

Global Campaign for Education breaks world record for World's Biggest Ever Lesson
We did it – together! On April 23, millions of people of all ages and backgrounds in over 100 countries broke the world record for the World's Biggest Lesson. The pressure is on politicians now more than ever to make sure that education services are free, public and have enough teachers.

Program update
Saving for a rainy day in Cambodia
Savings groups in Koh Phdau, Cambodia are helping local women develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to play a stronger role in their community. The groups are designed to boost women’s skills, knowledge and self-esteem so that they have the confidence to participate in community decision-making and take on leadership roles.
Update on Aid
Rich countries’ aid figures drop for second straight year
For a second year in a row, rich countries have not delivered on their historical commitment made in 2005 to substantially increase their aid to fight extreme poverty. Aid figures show that the total overseas aid provided in 2007 was $104 billion, in real terms an 8.4% drop. This failure to deliver on aid promises means millions of children are denied a place in school, and mothers and children are condemned to die.
