Global new media competition winners announced for Oxfam’s Make Trade Fair campaign
The Rumpus Room and Oxfam International are proud to announce the winners of the global creative competition ‘Make a Big Noise for Make Trade Fair.’ With hundreds of entries from over 18 countries, a global jury of advertising, communications and design industry leaders judged submissions over several rounds.
- Ryan Holland, James Robbins and Tomoko Izumoto - VCU AD Center, School of Mass Communication, United States.
- Lucy Clark and Jenny Phillips – Independent, UK
- John Palmer and Tsieske Van Den Broek – Boiler Room, Australia.
All three teams were awarded Gold and it is proposed that elements of each entry will be combined to form one global, non-traditional media campaign for Oxfam International in 2008. The details of the entries themselves remain under wraps for now. Details for Silver and Bronze winners and competition information are available from: www.makeabignoise.org.
“It was a great privilege to be part of judging such a diverse and exciting set of entries,” says Tom Roope, competition judge and Creative Director of The Rumpus Room. “Seeing the passion for the issues surrounding the campaign and the talent of the entrants was really an inspiring experience.”
‘Make a Big Noise for Make Trade Fair’ was conceived and executed by contemporary communications company, The Rumpus Room, sister organization to production company, The Sweet Shop, and run in partnership with the annual Young Guns competition.
Oxfam has been at the forefront of campaigns using new and sophisticated messaging. Other highly visible international campaigns Oxfam has been involved in include Make Poverty History and Control Arms. In 2005 they launched the internationally acclaimed 'dumping shots' featuring Colin Firth, Minnie Driver, Bono, Tom Yorke, Gael Garcia Bernal, The Finn Brothers and Damon Albarn to bring attention to the Make Trade Fair campaign.
“We’re hugely excited by the winning ideas and their ability to communicate the campaign message in a non-traditional way. We now look forward to bringing them to life with our partners as part of a global initiative with Oxfam International”, says Paul Prince, Managing Director of The Sweet Shop.
