A million refugees urgently need shelter, food and water
Oxfam aid worker abducted in Chad is released
Published: 16 June 2010
Oxfam GB is delighted to confirm the release of their staff member, a Swiss national, Hubert Ballaman, who was abducted in Abéché on 6 June.
Oxfam would like to thank all parties involved, especially the Government of Chad, and members of the international community for their efforts to achieve the safe release of our colleague.
We would like to commend the courage of Hubert and his family during their ordeal and request that the family’s privacy is respected so that they may have time to enjoy their reunion.
For 43 years, Oxfam has been working in different regions of Chad, engaging tirelessly to alleviate suffering and poverty among the most affected people in Am Dam, Goz Beida, and many other areas.
