- En la cumbre del G20 en Cannes muchas iniciativas se cayeron de la agenda, pero las más importantes sobrevivieron
- Los países del G20 representan cerca del 90% del producto nacional bruto global, 80% del comercio mundial, y dos tercios del total de la población en el mundo. ¿No debería entonces ser su responsabilidad alcanzar avances reales durante la cumbre del 3 y 4 de noviembre en Cannes?
- En todo el mundo, una idea que va ganando terreno: la de un impuesto aplicado a las transacciones financieras podría generar miles de millones de euros para combatir la pobreza
- La subida de los precios de los alimentos ya ha sumido a millones de personas a la pobreza. Esta crisis amenaza con empeorar en el futuro. Firma nuestra petición global invitando a los y las líderes del G20 a actuar ahora.
Lo que debió ser una cumbre clave del G20 para hacer realidad una prosperidad global se ha quedado corta en sus resultados, pero alguna de las ideas más importantes lograron mantenerse a pesar de la oposición de algunos países.

At the stunt, Oxfam set up a"working dinner" of the leaders of G20 countries in which they are eating, drinking and chatting next to the beach. Alongside them, a large blackboard displays a check list with obvious objectives to fulfill: to reduce poverty, ensure food security, and establish a Robin Hood Tax to finance development and climate change adaptation... But the only item that's been discussed is the Euro.

1. Address Food price volatility by taking action on speculation, biofuels and land, and increase food security through Emergency Food reserves.
2. Commit to reducing inequality through transformational essential services (health and education) financed through fairer tax systems, and by systematically measuring inequality.
3. Agree to mandatory country by country reporting on tax, and recommit to tackling tax havens.
4. Promote new sustainable sources of development finance, including a fair deal on carbon pricing of maritime transport. Call on Europe to implement an FTT/set of financial transaction taxes for climate financing and development.
