Female Food Heroes in Tanzania

There were over 6000 applications for the prize of Mama Shujaa Wa Chakula (Female Food Champion). 11 finalists were chosen for their outstanding contribution to their community and agriculture.

The stories of the finalists reached 25 million people in Tanzania, on radio, tv and in newspapers. 10,000 people voted and the remarkable stories of these rural women farmers reached a nation.

This short video shows how the winner Ester and the other 10 finalists proved that sometimes it is the unheard voices that make the loudest noise.
