With short-term work projects, grants, and loans Oxfam is helping Haitian families get back on their feet.
Oxfam has engaged people for a total 25,319 work days in cash-for-work programs to enable them to earn money and do a job that will help clean up their environment -- such as removing rubble, clearing drains, and digging ditches to carry rainwater away from landslide-prone areas.
Oxfam has given cash grants of between $125 - $250 to a total of 23,374 families. Oxfam prioritizes women in our cash grants projects, to help them start small businesses, along with business management and training to help them become self-sufficient.
