A desperate and largely unknown humanitarian crisis is deteriorating in the Lake Chad Basin region of West Africa, forcing millions of people to flee their homes and leaving millions more in need of humanitarian assistance. Oxfam is providing life-saving support but help is urgently needed to prevent the crisis turning into a catastrophe.
What is Rights in Crisis?
Globally we are witnessing a rise in the scale and frequency of humanitarian crises and their impacts on vulnerable people. The gap is widening between humanitarian needs and the ability or willingness of governments and international humanitarian actors, including NGOs like Oxfam, to meet them.
With your support, the Rights in Crisis campaign calls for:
- those people affected by conflict, insecurity and disaster to have the assistance they need and the protection that is their right;
- governments and the international community to address - and ultimately remedy - the political root causes of their vulnerability.
