Six months since the conflict began, parts of Gaza are still strewn with the rubble of destroyed homes. Despite the ceasefire in September 2014 vital reconstruction has barely begun and the Israeli blockade of Gaza remains in place.
Oxfam is helping refugee families from Syria face another harsh winter in Lebanon, like in Bouday, a small town in Lebanon’s Bekaa valley where several informal settlements have been set up by refugees fleeing Syria’s war.
In response to WFP food cuts for Syrian refugees, Andy Baker who heads up Oxfam's response to the Syria crisis said: "Millions of Syrians have left their country to flee war, death and destruction. It is unthinkable to leave them hungry. Rich countries must step up and support the World Food Program."
Aid agency Oxfam is today launching a major appeal to help families affected by the Syria Crisis get through the harsh winter months – and beyond.
Oxfam is in a race against time to hand out thousands of winter kits to families still homeless from Pakistan's summer floods – already a challenge as the deluge wrecked roads and bridges. It will get worse when many communities are cut off by blizzards.
