On Saturday April 16, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador killing hundreds of people, leaving thousands wounded and causing severe damage to infrastructure. Access to safe drinking water and storage, as well as shelter is urgently needed. With your help we can reach the most vulnerable populations with vital assistance.
It's just over half-way through the month of Ramadan. More than 1.8 million Syrian refugees have fled their homes and are now living in neighboring countries with more arriving every day. Families are crowded into rented accommodation, temporary tented settlements or are living in refugee camps. Life is tough and the month of Ramadan makes them think of home more than ever.
We have provided humanitarian assistance to more than 135,000 refugees who have fled to Lebanon and Jordan since the start of the year. We are providing water and sanitation facilities in Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan and to families living in temporary settlements in both Lebanon and Jordan. We are also providing cash support to families living in rented accommodation and settlements in both countries. Funds are short, to scale up our response to the Syria crisis and reach more people, we urgently need to raise more money.
