On Saturday April 16, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador killing hundreds of people, leaving thousands wounded and causing severe damage to infrastructure. The stories of the finalists reached 25 million people in Tanzania, on radio, tv and in newspapers. 10,000 people voted and the remarkable stories of these rural women farmers reached a nation.
