Christchurch earthquake: How can you help?

Published: 23rd February 2011

Today Oxfam’s thoughts are with all of the people affected by the earthquake in Christchurch – those who lost their lives, those who are missing and every family and friend waiting with nervousness and hope for news.

Oxfam is ready to offer support on the ground in Christchurch should the New Zealand Government request it. If that happens, our efforts will be coordinated through the Non Government Disaster Relief Forum (NDRF), which ensures that the Government’s response teams aren’t bombarded by disjointed offers of help. They know best what they need and when they need it.

If people would like to help directly, the best thing to do right now is to make a donation to the Red Cross.
