EU report on migration reveals shortcomings on key goals

Published: 13th June 2017

In response to the EU’s progress report on its Migration Partnership Framework, Natalia Alonso, Head of Oxfam's EU Office, said: "Over this last year, the EU’s Migration Partnership Framework has failed to make progress on its key goals - it has failed to offer manageable and sustainable alternatives for people forced to use smugglers or improve opportunities in countries of origin. What we need to see at next week's European Council is an adoption of long term solutions for supporting the development of African countries and ensuring respect for the rights of people, whether they have taken the decision to move or stayed in their home countries."
