Oxfam reaction to UN announcement of 100,000 deaths in Syria Crisis

Published: 16th July 2013

The UN announced that up to 100,000 have died as a result of the Syria crisis.

Claire Seaward, Campaigns and Advocacy Manager for Oxfam's Syria Response: “One hundred thousand deaths is a horrific milestone in a conflict that has reached a staggering scale with eight million Syrians desperately in need of aid and almost 1.8 million forced to flee to neighboring countries.

"Behind the shocking statistics there is incredible human suffering and hardship yet the promised peace talks seem as far away as ever. The world cannot continue to look away - there must be greater international efforts to find a political solution and stop the bloodshed.
