Reaction to the World Bank's Human Capital Index
Reacting to the launch of the World Bank's Human Capital Index, Nadia Daar, the head of Oxfam International's office said:
"The Human Capital Index shines a spotlight on the right priorities. Education and health investments are crucial not just for economic growth, but for fighting inequality and securing basic rights. Governments too often overlook these areas because of short-term politics.
"While the Index doesn’t capture inequalities in outcomes, one thing should be clear: more and better spending is needed for governments to provide universal access to quality public education and health services.'"
