World Bank 'Turn Down the Heat' report should shock the world into action

Published: 19th November 2012

In response to the World Bank's 'Turn Down the Heat' report released today which revealed that the world will heat up by 4 degrees at the end of the century and the poor will suffer most, Oxfam Climate Change Policy Spokesperson David Waskow said:

“Jim Kim is absolutely right that this report should shock the world into action.

“This latest report is yet another reason why leaders must work with urgency and ambition at the UN Climate Change negotiations in Doha later this month, because climate change is wreaking havoc on poor people’s lives, and communities need additional funds to adapt.

“Now the question for the World Bank is how it will ensure that all of its activities respond to the imperatives of the report, so that their own investments are consistent with countries’ efforts to build their resilience to the impacts of climate change.”
