On Saturday April 16, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador killing hundreds of people, leaving thousands wounded and causing severe damage to infrastructure. Access to safe drinking water and storage, as well as shelter is urgently needed. With your help we can reach the most vulnerable populations with vital assistance.
Ongoing airstrikes, ground fighting and fuel shortages mean that an additional 3 million Yemenis are now without drinking water – raising the total number of Yemenis without a clean water supply and sanitation to at least 16 million – almost two-thirds of the population.
With the beginning of the five-day humanitarian pause in air strikes in Yemen, Grace Ommer, Oxfam Country Director in Yemen said:
Full recovery from the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza will be impossible unless Israel’s blockade is lifted permanently, Oxfam warned today as it held a demonstration in Parliament Square, London, to highlight the suffering the blockade causes.
The failure to extend the ceasefire will cost more lives and further endanger innocent civilians who deserve much better from their political leadership.
