A desperate and largely unknown humanitarian crisis is deteriorating in the Lake Chad Basin region of West Africa, forcing millions of people to flee their homes and leaving millions more in need of humanitarian assistance. Oxfam is providing life-saving support but help is urgently needed to prevent the crisis turning into a catastrophe.
Every three years, Oxfam Canada members join together to meet Oxfam program partners from around the world and discuss our role in the global movement for change.
Our 2010 gathering took place in Toronto and was a dynamic gathering of Oxfam members – volunteers, donors, academics, advocates and activists – and explored the themes of gender based violence, maternal health, poverty, security, climate change, and food security.
The result: a renewed vision and determination to eradicate global poverty and injustice.
