Thousands of people made homeless by the January 2010 earthquake in Haiti must be relocated due to the high risks of mudslides and other disasters in their current locations when the rainy season begins.
The Haiti government has identified a new site, Corail Cesselesse, to be used for this resettlement, giving aid agencies and Haitians little advance notice. Oxfam has been working hard to get the site ready for the first people to arrive, installing latrines, showers and water bladders. We have hired 200 Haitians in the last month to help with this work.
