In response to the results of two votes on renewing the UN Security Council’s resolution allowing cross-border aid into Syria which have failed to extend the mandate beyond Friday 10 July, Oxfam in Syria’s Country Director Moutaz Adham said:
“The failure to come to an agreement on the renewal of cross-border aid is a devastating blow to the millions of Syrian families who rely on this aid for clean water, food, health care and shelter.
“The UN Security Council must ensure a decision to enable the delivery of aid to all vulnerable communities in northwest and northeast Syria.
“Cross border aid is needed now more than ever, as Syrians face the threat of COVID-19. All available avenues for delivering aid will be critical in helping the more than 11 million people in need of assistance across Syria.”
