Oxfam reaction to Gordon Brown's speech at the Copenhagen Climate Summit

Oxfam's Senior Climate Advisor Robert Bailey said:
Gordon Brown has shown today that the UK is still prepared to fight for an agreement that ensures aid budgets are protected. With safeguards against aid raiding absent from the talks of late, it’s encouraging to see this critical issue back on the agenda.
“Now its time for Gordon Brown to raise his level of ambition and bring other rich countries along with him to secure the deal that’s needed.
“What we need to see now is greater ambition on public money to help poor countries tackle climate change. It is dangerous to rely on market forces to pay for flood defences and drought resistant seeds, as there are no guarantees that the money will reach the right people, in the right places, at right time.”
