Oxfam welcomes the We Mean Business rallying call for private sector leadership on climate change

Publicado: 22nd Septiembre 2014

In response to the release of the We Mean Business coalition report, Tim Gore, head of climate policy for Oxfam said:

"Oxfam welcomes today's report from We Mean Business as a rallying call for private sector leadership on climate change. Business voices demanding climate action are a vital counter-weight to the influence of the fossil fuel industry over our governments, and this report makes a strong new business case for action. But the true test of whether these companies really do "mean it" is if they follow through in practice. New concrete commitments to cut emissions further and faster are needed. The report sets the right vision for business leadership but also reminds us that too few are yet delivering what is needed."

Oxfam's Behind the Brands campaign has urged the biggest food and beverage companies in the world to take concrete steps to slash emissions across their supply chains. Recently, General Mills and Kellogg announced industry leading measures to cut emissions from their agricultural supply chains in response to pressure from hundreds of thousands of consumers supporting Oxfam's campaign: http://www.oxfam.org/en/pressroom/pressreleases/2014-08-13/kellogg-issues-climate-change-wake-call.
