Oxfam’s Minimum Standards for Gender in Emergencies have been developed to be used as a tool for humanitarian program practitioners to ensure a consistent approach to promoting gender equality in humanitarian preparedness and response programming. The minimum standards are built on four areas:

  • Using gender analysis throughout the project cycle to inform planning, program design and implementation, and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning;

  • Ensuring participation, dignity, empowerment;

  • Promoting gender equality through internal practices;

  • Addressing Gender-based Violence and prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse.
