New Yemen hunger figures are stark warning as peace talks begin

Publié: 6th décembre 2018

IPC announcement that more than 15 million people in Yemen are in a “crisis” and about 65,000 in a food “catastrophe” are a stark warning as peace talks begin

Muhsin Siddiquey, Oxfam’s Yemen Country Director, said: “This is a stark warning sign on the road to catastrophe. It’s shocking that in 18 months, tens of thousands of people have been forced into a catastrophic situation. Two thirds of Yemen’s population are now reliant on aid to survive.

“The peace talks in Sweden are a critical opportunity to bring an end to the devastating conflict and the suffering it’s inflicting on the people of Yemen.”
