We campaign to change the things that keep people locked in poverty.
While we work to alleviate the symptoms of poverty, we also campaign to tackle the causes of it too.
We campaign side-by-side with our supporters to challenge those who would abuse or mismanage their own power. We campaign to change bad policy and bad practise.
We have a unique place among 21st Century campaigning organizations because our campaigns are built on real life evidence from our long-term development and emergency work.
We work in more than 90 countries with thousands of local partners who in turn reach millions of people. They point us to where our campaigns can add most value.
Our guiding principle is to empower people to speak out and claim their rights.
Side-by-side with supporters, we challenge those who would abuse or mismanage their own power. We campaign to challenge bad policy and bad practise.
We began back in 1942 as a campaigning organization. We confronted the Allied governments to break their blockade of Greece, to support the people there starving for food. We have been campaigning ever since.
We think that campaigning today still means “being active with others” and “talking truth to power” – whether in the board-room, the parliament, the factory floor, the UN, local authorities, communities, or wherever it is wielded.
People in power respect our experience and authority and listen to our arguments.
