The Swedish development agency Sida has announced their decision to go ahead with a new three year humanitarian partnership with Oxfam. The €10.2 million partnership arrangement will ensure over 280,000 people in more than five countries will receive critical humanitarian aid. 

While we are encouraged by the Chair statements and the Summit deliberations, Oxfam believes that African leaders have let African women down, in their effort to end the conflict and find a peaceful resolution to years of brutality and violence that ripped the continent.    

Oxfam in Uganda recognizes the need for equitable access to vaccines and affordable healthcare services for everyone – including refugees and asylum seekers. Since March 2020, schools in Uganda have been closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Bidibidi refugee settlement, one of the largest in the world hosting over 280,000 refugees mainly from the Equatoria region in South Sudan, more than 80,000 children have been affected.
