In reaction to the outcomes of the Committee on World Food Security meeting which ended yesterday, Thierry Kesteloot, Oxfam’s food policy advisor said: "Oxfam is outraged that the world’s foremost platform on global food security and nutrition has failed to agree on any action close to sufficient in tackling to the world’s COVID-fuelled food crisis.

Oxfam’s response to the latest report from the Integrated Food Security Classification System (IPC) released this afternoon on the situation in Somalia.

In reaction to today’s Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, and Vinnytsia regions, which have left thousands of people without electricity or water, and caused disruptions to transport and communications, Sarah Redd – Oxfam’s Advocacy Campaigns and Engagement Manager for the Ukraine Response - said: 

Responding to reports that around 20 countries have committed to stop financing overseas fossil fuel projects by the end of 2022, Oxfam's climate policy lead Nafkote Dabi said: "This is an encouraging move that will divert much-needed resources to clean energy and help countries to develop in a low carbon way. Energy is vital to economic and social development, burning fossil fuels is not. This is the only way we can meet the collective goal of limiting global heating to 1.5°C."

In September 2023, Oxfam engages at the annual meeting of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), when heads of Heads of States convene for the High-Level Debate in New York. We also follow the discussions on key issues at the various UN UNGA Committees through to December, when resolutions get adopted.
