More than 8,600 people were killed and half a million houses destroyed by the quake.

The Tunisian Parliament has adopted a new law for the elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls, including domestic violence. In response, Soufia Galand, Oxfam Country Office Tunisia Gender Justice Officer, said: “The revolution is still alive and it has added a feminist milestone to its path!"

Oxfam is gearing up to deliver clean water and sanitation to thousands. Some 30,000 people are currently living in makeshift shelters in 16 government camp locations, too scared to return to their homes for fear of the aftershocks.

One month on since the first earthquake hit Nepal, Oxfam is working with mountain guides and porters to deliver life saving aid to the most remote communities before the imminent monsoon hits the country. Mountain guides and porters are assisting Oxfam with its relief delivery in the Gorkha district, one of the worst hit by the earthquake.
