Three years of war in Yemen: over 3 million people have been forced to flee their homes, the world’s largest cholera outbreak on record, and the country is teetering on the brink of famine. The world cannot continue to turn a blind eye to Yemen’s suffering.

With the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings wrapping up, Nadia Daar, the head of Oxfam International’s Washington office commented on the week’s events, including developments on inequality, climate change, and tax policy.

The European Commission admits that wealth taxation is gaining “traction globally” as a tool to “ensure a fairer sharing of the tax burden across individuals”. This is according to the Commission’s new Annual Report on Taxation, which mentions the recent G20 discussions around taxing the super-rich and the European Citizens Initiative for a wealth tax.
