Oxfam is calling for more investment to go into preparing people for floods and other disasters in Pakistan as it marks its 40th year of working in the country this week.

Poor countries are cutting back investment in farming, health service and services to help women because of fears about rising debts and the impact of the economic crisis, according to a new database launched today. 

In reaction to the 2013 European Neighborhood Policy Package, put forward today by European Commissioner Stefan Füle, the Head of Oxfam EU Office, Natalia Alonso, said:

Oxfam strongly condemns the brutal sexual assault and subsequent death of a young woman in Delhi and calls for immediate systemic response to the increasing trend of violence against women in the country.
