New research from Oxfam finds that sexual harassment of women, girls and gender non-conforming people on public transport is tolerated by urban Sri Lankan commuters who consider it normal male behaviour, an everyday occurrence and the fault of women for not being submissive, obedient or dressing decently.
This document collates and summarizes a range of actions that are currently being undertaken or that have been agreed by Oxfam’s leadership in response to the current crisis. The aim is to ensure an urgent, comprehensive and accountable response across the Oxfam confederation which will lead to deep-rooted lasting change.
