In response to Uk Secretary of State Justine Greening’s announcement today that DFID will pledge $1.6 billion to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria over the next 3 years, Oxfam’s Senior Health & HIV Policy Advisor, Dr Mohga Kamal-Yanni, said:

“This generous contribution from the UK to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria will be a huge boost to the countries which are struggling to overcome these three deadly diseases. This money could help save millions more lives by providing free medicines to some of the world's poorest people.

"The Global Fund is currently helping over 5 million people a year to receive treatment for HIV by giving them access to free health services."
