1 May – New Data on Wage Gap – Press Release: Oxfam published new data on the global wage gap between CEO wages and the average worker showing that global CEO pay increased by 50 percent since 2019, 56 times more than worker wages.
2 May – Gaza – Press Briefing: Emergency press briefing from humanitarian organisations in Gaza as Israel’s total siege on Gaza marks two months of no aid. Reach out for more information on speakers and register here.
7 May – Parliament Vote on EU Budget (MFF) – Comment: The European Parliament will vote on its own initiative report on the EU’s 7-year budget (MFF). Oxfam recently published a position paper on the MFF, and Oxfam EU aid expert, Antonio Gambini, is available for comment.
14 May – Financing for Development (FfD) – Panel Event: Oxfam will co-host a hybrid event at the European Parliament ahead of its vote on its FfD4 report. The event will look at the EU’s role in this conference. Register here.
16 May – Global Report on Food Crises – Comment: The Food Security Information Network (FSIN) and the Global Network Against Food Crises (GNAFC) will publish their annual report on food crises, the reference document for acute hunger figures worldwide. Oxfam EU food security expert, Hanna Saarinen, is available for comment.
19 to 20 May – European Humanitarian Forum – Comment: Oxfam will follow the European Humanitarian Forum - the EU’s largest humanitarian event. Oxfam experts are available for comment.
June
27 June – 6th AU-EU Agriculture Ministerial Conference – Comment: Oxfam will follow the meeting of African Union and European Union ministers. Oxfam's EU food expert, Hanna Saarinen, is available for comment.
30 June to 3 July –Development Financing (FfD) – Media Brief: Ahead of the FfD4 in Seville, Oxfam will publish a media brief critiquing the growing reliance on private financing for development and presenting a vision for investing in public services. During the conference, Oxfam will publish a press release and host several side events. Reach out for details.
