On 25th April 2015 a massive earthquake struck Nepal. Oxfam responded by providing immediate humanitarian aid to thousands of people. We have also worked to support people improve their long term well being and that of their community.  

People in the Dominican Republic and Haiti are facing “the day after” Hurricane Irma, which caused widespread damage overnight. Oxfam teams will immediately asses the needs of the most vulnerable people in the heaviest-hit areas, mainly in the north of both countries. 

On January 12, 2010, a devastating earthquake struck Haiti. More than 220,000 people were killed and over 300,000 injured. Thanks to the incredible outpouring of support from the public and governments around the word, Oxfam helped more than half a million survivors.

The international community must support the Nepalese government to grasp a golden opportunity to rebuild the country and make it more resilient to future disasters.

Women in Nepal are living in fear of abuse because of the lack of privacy and security afforded by temporary shelters, Oxfam said today.

Oxfam and its Caribbean partner organizations are helping people most affected by flooding and strong winds following Hurricane Irma, which hit housing, infrastructure and destroyed agricultural production. 

The people of Nepal are in dire need of shelter, clean water, food and medical treatment. Thanks to your support, we have started providing clean water and sanitation facilities to earthquake survivors in camps, and are assessing needs in rural areas.
