On 25 April 2015, Nepal was struck by a massive 7.6 magnitude earthquake that left nearly 9,000 people dead and destroyed or damaged more than 850,000 homes. Many of the affected people have received some support from the Government of Nepal and aid organizations, but others are still waiting for assistance. 

This study aims to understand how conflict and fragility in four different contexts – Egypt, Iraq, the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Yemen – have impacted the realization of gender equality and gender justice in the past several years of political and social upheaval.

In response to the announcement today from the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations (IFPMA), which forecasts that 12 billion doses of COVID vaccines could be produced this year, Max Lawson, Chair of the People’s Vaccine Alliance and head of Inequality Policy at Oxfam, said: “While the world is finally producing billons of doses of COVID-19 vaccines there is no guarantee that developing nations will get them. Of the vaccines produced to date, only 0.5 per cent have gone to the poorest countries."
