June

Gaza – Comment: Oxfam will continue to monitor and react to ongoing developments in Gaza and the EU’s response. Oxfam experts are available for interview and comment.  

New EU Global Investment and Development Plan – Comment: Oxfam is assessing the impact of the leaked European Commission guidelines for the new EU development policy, including the Global Gateway. Oxfam experts are available for comment.

5 June – Migrant Workers in European Agriculture – Report and Press Release: Oxfam will publish a report on the systemic exploitation of migrant workers in the European agriculture industry. Please reach out for an embargoed copy. Oxfam experts are available for comment. 

6 to 9 June – EU Elections – Comment: Oxfam is following the road to the European elections and the outcome of the vote. Read our manifesto with recommendations for the new EU mandate. Oxfam experts are available for comment.

13 to 15 June – G7 Summit – Media Reaction: Oxfam will react to announcements at the G7 meeting in Italy. Oxfam experts are available for comment.

20 June – World Refugee Day – Press Release: Oxfam will publish a press release on climate-fueled displacement. Oxfam experts are available for comment.

27 to 28 June – EU Summit and EU top jobs – Comment: Oxfam will follow the European Council's approval of the new EU strategic agenda for 2024 - 2029 and the designation of the new EU institution presidents along with the new chief of EU diplomacy. Oxfam sent a letter to the EU Council president, Charles Michel, outlining what the EU should focus on. Oxfam experts are available for comment.

Date TBC – Gender Inequality – Reaction: The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will publish its in-depth analysis of how much Official Development Aid (ODA) donors allocate to gender equality. Oxfam will publish a media reaction, and Oxfam experts are available for comment.

10 July TBC – UN FAO Hunger Report – Media Reaction: The UN Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) will publish its annual global report on progress towards ending hunger. Oxfam will publish a media reaction. Oxfam food security expert, Hanna Saarinen, is available for comment.

16 to 19 July – European Parliament Plenary – Comment: Oxfam will follow the European Parliament’s vote to elect its new president along with the approval of the Commission’s political guidelines for 2024 - 2029 and the confirmation of the new president of the European Commission. Oxfam experts are available for comment.

25 to 26 July – G20 Wealth Taxation – Comment: Oxfam will follow the G20 Finance ministerial meeting. Oxfam tax expert, Chiara Putaturo, is available for comment. 

Date TBC – Food Insecurity and Biofuels – Report: Oxfam will publish a report on biofuels and food insecurity, focusing on the EU’s and EU country’s failed policies on biofuels. Oxfam EU climate justice expert, Julie Bos, is available for comment.
